Last year we were blessed by reaching our goal of $20,000 through the Giving Tree and are hopeful to reach that goal again. Through this time of Thanksgiving and Christmas we will again have the TWB Giving Tree by the school office. The tree has envelopes attached to it that are numbered 1 to 200 and were decorated by the students. We are asking that you prayerfully consider taking one or more of the envelopes and return them to the school office with the amount of money equal to the number on the envelopes. If all the envelopes are taken and returned we will have raised another $20,000. The progress will be tracked on a thermometer also located by the school office when money and envelopes are returned. By filling the envelopes we will also be able to take advantage of the last $15,000 in matching money! Join us, as we continue to move forward in the process to build.
We praise the Lord for a wonderful time with everyone on Friday, September 14th, at the Together We Build Fundraising Banquet! Out theme this year was Honoring Our Legacy, Building Our Future. Our special guest was Mrs. Marilyn Kallander, who taught at Calvary for 24 years. She shared about her years of service at Calvary and how it isn’t just about the academics but also about teaching the students from a Biblical worldview. She expressed her excitement in how God is the focus of every subject and not a separate piece that you try to make fit. Mrs. Kallander also shared many fond memories of past students and relationships built over the years. We appreciate her willingness to share part of Calvary’s legacy and what it has meant to her through the years.
Pastor Chris Causey also gave an update on the building project. The total raised to date is over 513,000! PRAISE THE LORD! In the past year we have completed hook up to city water and sewer and continue to develop plans for the next step. As he shared at the banquet, the next step is to pursue the foundation and “shelling in” of the gymnasium. We continue to work with the builder and architect to get firm numbers to begin moving forward, with the hope of seeing progress starting Spring of 2019!
After our delicious meal, we enjoyed yummy desserts from the Silent Auction. It was great to see everyone excited to bid on their favorite desserts and making those last second entries to be sure they were the top bidder. This year, through the very generous donations of seven local businesses, we had the opportunity to do a Live Auction as well. Pastor Chase Cantrell was auctioneer for the night. Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the friendly competition that came with bidding for the different items, all the while supporting a great cause!
Through the auctions, money given that night and pledges at the banquet, we raised over $55,000! Thanks to a generous donor who will match donations up to $100,000, we are now $110,000 closer to taking the next step of our project. Your support makes a huge impact in continuing to provide quality Christian education for generations to come. If you were unable to attend but still want to contribute, double your dollars by giving while the matching funds are still available. You can pick up a pledge card or make a donation in the school or church office.
We PRAISE THE LORD for the great things He has done and continues to do! May HE receive ALL the GLORY and HONOR!!
We are excited to be able to offer a LIVE AUCTION at our TWB Banquet this year. Not only will we have the silent auction with all the yummy desserts but we will also be offering a select few items in our live auction, thanks to some very generous local businesses. Preview the available items now!
You are cordially invited to join us on Fri, Sept 14th for a delicious banquet and time of celebration at The Dahl Arts Center (713 7th Street, Rapid City). Dinner will be provided by Anything’s Possible Catering starting at 6 pm, the dessert auction and program will follow. Tickets information coming soon!
Praising God for the completion of our city water and sewer hookup! Not only is this step important in our building process but our day to day functions here at Calvary will benefit. Join us in prayer as we continue to seek God’s provisions to start the next stage of our building project and help us spread the word! A Call to Prayer for our Building Project.
Join us on Mon, April 16th at Calvary Baptist Church for a time of prayer. We praise God for the opportunity to be connecting to city water/sewer and want to continue to seek Him as we move forward. Doors will be open from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, stop by and pray for 5 mins, 30 mins or the whole hour in the Sanctuary.
As we take a moment to celebrate this milestone, we can’t help but think of how God has moved mountains to get us to this point. Looking ahead brings excitement as we think on how He will continue to provide as we strive to further His kingdom work through Christian education. Join us in PRAISING GOD for this milestone achievement!
On Monday evening, April 16, we will have the church sanctuary open from 5:30-6:30 pm for people to come and pray about and for our building project. As we continue to seek the Lord in regards to adding classroom and gym space we want to give opportunity for God’s people to come together in prayer. Feel free to come for 5 minutes or the whole hour!
During Spirit Week we had two special events to help with our building fund.
On Tues, March 6th we had Nacho Day for the students and their parents. We had over 180 nachos ordered and served that day. A big THANK YOU! to Qdoba, for donating the chips and queso; parents, for donating the fixings; and to all who helped serve. Nacho Day brought in almost $700!
On Friday, Mar 9th, we had Root Beer Floats! The students ordered 125 Root Beer Floats bringing in over $100. A big THANK YOU! to all who helped prepare and serve the floats.
A special thanks to Dana Dow for her work in organizing both events during lunch time. A total of $804 was raised for the Together We Build project! Praise the Lord for how He is moving and working in this process.
