The Heart of a Kindergartner
Mrs. Pierce’s kindergarten class gathered around in a circle for their daily Bible Study lesson during the week of our Nacho fundraiser, learning about a missionary family in Spain. The story described how this family felt God leading them to open a retreat center to use as means of sharing the Gospel. They had to pray and trust God to provide. They sent letters to churches and asked people to pray with them. The result was that God provided exactly what the family needed to do the ministry to which He had called them too. In an effort to relate this story to the kids, Mrs. Pierce told her students about how we have been praying for our school because we feel God would like to make our school bigger so more kids could come. She told them that’s why our lunch staff is serving Nacho’s and Root Beer Floats this week. The next day, two girls in her class came to school with money they wanted to give to help make their school bigger. Mrs. Pierce checked with both girls’ parents to make sure they knew what the girls were doing. Both mom’s said their girls had come home asking if they could give some of their OWN money to help their school. A third little girl brought money later that week.
God is moving in the hearts of each of us, it’s up to us on how we respond. So thankful for these little children’s example of responding to what God lays on our heart. What a blessing it is to have Bible as part of our everyday curriculum.
Twenty-five FOURTH graders were Cookie Company owners for a day!
We praise God for the hearts of our students! Every year the fourth grade students participate in creating a small cookie business. Through this they learn about expenses and revenue of running a small business. We thank Camp Judson for providing space to bake 5,916 cookies and we thank Mrs. Kallander for leading in the experience. A big thanks to our fourth grade teachers, Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Parker as well as our students and parents; they all did a great job!
Each year the class gets to decide where to designate their business profits. This year the class chose to donate a portion of their proceeds to the building fund and presented a check for $500 during Chapel.
You can also give to our building project by clicking DONATE. Your gifts can also be given through the church or school office. All gifts are tax deductible as provided by law. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c)3 tax exempt organization.
We praise God for the continued progress of getting our buildings hooked up to city water and sewer. Please pray for good weather so things can be completed soon.
Pending good weather we anticipate getting to hook up our buildings to city water & sewer about the first of April.
Twenty eager 3rd grade students opened for business on the 100th day of school! Mrs Egge’s & Mrs Kallander’s students learned the basic operations of owning and operating a small business as other CCS students and parents were invited to shop on Feb 7, 2018. After expenses were taken out, the 3rd graders chose to give their profits to the building project. They presented a check for $231 to Mr. Causey during Chapel last week. Way to Go 3rd Graders! We are so thankful for your support to the Together We Build fund.
A Call to Prayer for our Building Project. Join us on Mon, Mar 19th at Calvary Baptist Church for a time of prayer. We praise God for the opportunity to connect to City Water/Sewer and want to continue to seek Him as we move forward. Doors will be open from 6pm – 7pm, stop by and pray for 5 mins, 30 mins or the whole hour in the Sanctuary.
Over Christmas break we started the next phase of the TWB project. As with anything, the infrastructure comes first and so city water and sewer are going in, thanks to everyone who helped this become reality. I thank God for his guidance and am looking forward to the plans he has for this project.
Last year we were blessed by reaching our goal of $20,000 through the Giving Tree and are hopeful to reach that goal again. Through this time of Thanksgiving and Christmas we will again have the TWB Giving Tree by the school office. The tree has envelopes attached to it that are numbered 1 to 200 and were decorated by the students. We are asking that you prayerfully consider taking one or more of the envelopes and return them to the school or church office with the amount of money equal to the number on the envelopes. If all the envelopes are taken and returned we will have raised another $20,000. The progress will be tracked on a thermometer also located by the school office when money and envelopes are returned. By filling the envelopes we will also be able to take advantage of the last $15,000 in matching money! Join us, as we continue to move forward in the process to build.
We need your help!
- Join us in prayer for the process and implementation of the building plan. We desire that the process, and especially the final building, will point to the great things God has done! We can do many things and desire to build immaculate buildings, but if we do so without God, it is in vain. Please pray that God received all the glory through the process and the building!
- Get involved! We have our 2018 pledge cards available! Pray about how God would have you give to this project. God can take even the smallest amount and multiply it for His good. You can also be part of our Give a Gift to TWB this Christmas. We will have a Christmas Tree in the school foyer just before Thanksgiving with envelopes ranging from $1 to $200. Grab an envelope or two, invite your kids to take part and give a gift to the Building Project this Christmas.
- Help spread the word! We have had several families in the school request some information packets so they can share this exciting news with family and friends outside of the area. If you know of some family or friends that would be interested in learning more about CCS’s building project, we can help. There are envelopes in the school and church office that includes a letter explaining who we are, what we are doing and where we are at in our project, a flyer with our project details and a pledge card all ready to be mailed. You are welcome to take as many as you like.
Each of you are intricate parts of the ministry at Calvary and we thank you for partnering with us!
To God be the Glory in all He has done!
